Amelia Caden is a retired M.E.C. soldier who fought in a gigantic combat frame after having her limbs amputated.

M.E.C. soldiers, who distinguished themselves in the war against the aliens, saw their production halted near the end of the war due to the emergence of more efficient unit types and ethical concerns. After the war, to mitigate the scale of damage during PTSD episodes, they were fitted with human-sized, low-output prosthetic limbs.

The technology used for their modifications was pure human technology from the early stages of the war. It's incompatible with humanity's rapidly advanced new technologies, which evolved significantly through the war with aliens and reverse-engineering. As a result, they can only wear old-model prosthetic limbs produced by defense companies as a form of social contribution, instead of superior new products (which are lighter, stronger, have more acute senses, and offer delicate control).

Their limb amputation modifications were performed roughly to increase productivity and suppress pain during combat. As a result, the prosthetics are dull in sensation and clumsy in movement.

Amelia is a highly decorated war hero receiving a generous pension. However, she suffers from PTSD and outdated technology, viewing the alien-derived new technologies with a mix of jealousy and hatred.
